Frage Vito W638 Westfalia Marco Polo: Dachbett nachrüsten

Liebe Westfalia Fans, besitzt jemand einen W638 Vito Westfalia Marco Polo mit dem oberen Bett im Hubdach? Ich bin dabei, das Bett zu montieren, mit einer Bettplatte, die nach dem Vorbild der ursprünglichen Bettplatte reproduziert wurde. Allerdings fehlen die Originalbefestigungen, und die sind meines Wissens als Ersatzteile nicht mehr lieferbar. Hinten die Steckscharniere sind noch relativ simpel zu ersetzen. Aber die solide Fronthalterung macht mir Sorgen. Hat jemand eine Idee, wie man die reproduzieren könnte? Und dann zur Montage: Wenn ich die Platte so reinlege, liegt sie auf dem Rahmen des Dachaufschnitts auf, der aber seinerseits mit Kunststoff verkleidet ist. Soll das Brett auch auf diesen Kunststoffabdeckungen sitzen? Auch vorne, der Metallträger, mit den beiden kleinen Aufliegern links und rechts? Das wirkt irgendwie nicht sinnvoll. Unser Vito ist als Neuwagen ohne Dachbett ausgeliefert worden, das war damals optional. Das Hochdach war dann eben nur für die Stehhöhe da. Ich frage mich langsam, ob bei der Version mit Bettplatte der Rahmen des Dachausschnitts anders aussehen müsste. Anregungen, Ideen, Kommentare und vor allem sehr gerne Bilder und Videos eines originalen Dachbetts sind hoch willkommen!! Bildbeschriftungen sind auf englisch, weil ich das Ganze schon in ein paar Gruppen bei Facebook gestellt habe, leider ergebnislos. Ihr seid meine letzte Hoffnung…! Danke vorab!

Hi all,I’m restoring a Westfalia pop-top on a Mercedes Vito W638 (1999) and I’m missing the front folding roof bed board. The rear board and side supports are still :the dimensions of the original roof bed (especially the folding part)?advice on board thickness, hinge position, or mounting details on W638 roofs? any measurements, photos, or tips would be much ,Olivier

Die hintere feste Platte und die seitlichen Auflagen sind :die Maße der originalen Dachbett-Platten (insbesondere des klappbaren Teils)?Hinweise zu Plattenstärke, Scharnierposition oder Befestigung beim W638?Mir ist bewusst, dass es bei älteren W638-Dächern Unterschiede geben kann, daher bin ich für jede Hilfe, Fotos oder Maße

hi there, thanks for asking. sold the car meanwhile, so i can‘t take the dimensions anymore. i bought the bed in the pictures from a shop in holland. at that time, they had an original bed in store and the repro that we bought. i found the original bed to expensive, they were asking 1000 euros, if in remember that correctly. the repro was about 300-500 euros.We had the hinges made by a metalworker in Cologne and had the bed base covered by a upholsterer. I added a metal rail across the front, a U-profile, to reinforce the construction. Then, of course, we also needed the mattress. All in all, the retrofit easily cost €1,200.We also attached the front of the bed differently than Mercedes intended, to the high position when the roof is up and the bed is folded up. Originally, it was supposed to be attached to a kind of pop rivet in the middle. That seemed too unstable to me. So I drilled holes in the roof on the left and right, where the rails for the roof rack are located on the outside, and then attached hooks on the inside. It held bombproof and was also completely waterproof in the rain, well sealed with silicone. I'll see if I can find some pictures of it.

This is what it looked like in the end. Quite acceptable, I think, and it worked perfectly!

Here are the hinges that the metalworker made. You can see the original hinges on the plate. Incidentally, this is the original bed plate that the shop in Holland had in stock at the time, which we did not purchase. It had the hinges on it. Our reproduction plate did not have the hinges on it, so we had to have them made. As the saying goes, if you buy cheap, you buy twice.
